Celine Dion documentary coming to Prime Video

US

Celine Dion is ready to share her battle with the rare neurological disease- Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).

In a post to Instagram on Tuesday morning, the musical powerhouse announced she’ll reveal it all in a documentary called “I Am: Celine Dion.” It’s set to stream on Prime Video after Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights to the film.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” she wrote in the caption. “As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.”

In 2021, Dion canceled her Las Vegas residency and cited health concerns.

The following year, she revealed her diagnosis with SPS.

At first, she canceled the North American leg of her Courage World Tour due to “severe and persistent muscle spasms.” She later ended up canceling all remaining shows, but said she was “working really hard to build back (her) strength.”

While she has mainly stayed out of the spotlight, during her absence she revealed she “wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

The documentary will feature the global megastar’s never-before-seen private life, like taking a look at her couture touring wardrobe, spending time in the studio and more.

“I Am: Celine Dion,” is a feature-length documentary produced by Sony Music Vision, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Canada, and Vermilion Films. It is set to stream in more than 240 countries.

“Celine Dion is a global megastar with a career defined not only by her extraordinary work ethic and passion, but by her dedication to her fans,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios. “This documentary is a raw, intimate portrayal of a pivotal time in her personal life and career, pulling back the curtain on her journey as she overcomes an unthinkable diagnosis. It’s an honor to be trusted with her story, and we can’t wait to share it with Prime Video audiences around the world.”

The release date will be announced at a later time.
