Dodger game delayed as fans throw baseballs, trash at Padres outfielder

Game two of the Dodgers National League Division Series in Los Angeles against the San Diego Padres was briefly delayed after fans tossed baseballs at a Padres outfielder.

Dodger fans, who may have been annoyed with left fielder Jurickson Profar after he snatched a first-inning Mookie Betts hit out of the air by reaching into the stands and was then seen hopping up and down, staring at fans for several seconds while Betts rounded the bases before showing that he’d caught the ball, caused the ruckus in the seventh.

As San Diego held the lead at 4-1 in the seventh, fans prompted the 12-minute delay after throwing baseballs and trash at Profar.

Profar yelled and was seen pointing until, but was quickly huddled around by teammate Xander Bogaerts, who put his arm around him, and several other Padres.

Security staff at Dodger Stadium attempted to identify the fans causing the trouble and announcer Todd Leitz, over the loudspeaker, told the fans to refrain from throwing objects on the field.
