Arson suspect barricades in Palmdale, surrounding homes evacuated

A person suspected of arson and assault with a deadly weapon is currently barricaded in a Palmdale residence, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities with the sheriff’s department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) are responding to assist Palmdale Station on the 38000 block of 17th Street East.

This barricade reportedly began around 4:48 p.m. Sunday, and personnel have since evacuated the surrounding homes for the safety of the residents.

Officials said SEB personnel will assume tactical command while the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) attempts to contact the suspect. 

LASD said there is no additional information available at this time.
