Sunday forecast: October sunshine continues, but cooler and blustery

US

There’s plenty of October sunshine for Chicagoland in the forecast, both long-term and short-term.

That will certainly be the case Sunday, with a gorgeous fall day on tap — including for a noon kickoff at Soldier Field between the Bears and Panthers. However, it will be a little cooler than it was Saturday, when temps soared to the summer-like mid-80s in some locations.

A weak cold front moved through overnight, and though it didn’t drop any rain, it will usher in a northwest wind that will keep Sunday’s high temps in the low to mid-70s. Wind gusts could also be as high as 20 to 30 miles per hour.

Early-morning temps Sunday were still very mild, reaching the mid-60s along the lakefront.

However, overnight lows are expected to drop into the 40s for the start of the work week.

But October warmth isn’t going anywhere yet, with highs back into the 80s for the end of the week and into next weekend. And there’s no rain in the forecast either, as bone-dry conditions look to continue.
