Toddler shot in hand at Lyons home

LYONS, Ill. – A toddler was shot in the hand Friday afternoon in Lyons.

Officials said the incident happened at around 3 p.m. Friday in the 4000 block of Center Avenue.

A 16-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy were in a room with an unsecured weapon. The weapon eventually discharged and the 2-year-old was shot in the hand, according to officials.

The toddler was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in stable condition.

It is unclear how the weapon went off and the incident remains under investigation.
