Man found shot to death inside residence on Near South Side

CHICAGO — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death inside a residence on the Near South Side early Saturday morning.

According to Chicago police, the man was found just after 3:30 a.m., inside a residence in the 2000 block of South State Street.

Officers said the man, who was found unresponsive, had suffered several gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.

Authorities said circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
