BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A former Bastrop ISD teacher was sentenced to two years of community supervision following incidents involving students in 2021 and 2022.

Roy Franks Sr. pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault by contact in June, according to court documents. He was sentenced to two years of community supervision.

Two charges of improper relationship between educator and student were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Franks also agreed to not accept employment that requires contact with minor children and to not contact minor children other than family members among other conditions, according to court documents.

In 2022, the district said it learned about an allegation against Franks, who taught at Cedar Creek High School, on March 25, 2022. Franks was placed on leave and barred from campus.

The Bastrop ISD Police Department investigated the allegations. Franks resigned from the district April 6, 2022.
