Part of DuSable Lake Shore Drive shut down in both directions after crash involving wrong-way driver

CHICAGO — A portion of DuSable Lake Shore Drive is closed in both directions early Thursday morning after a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver.

According to Chicago police, the crash happened just after 3:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Dr. when a driver entered the road going southbound, the wrong way, and hit an oncoming vehicle going northbound.

Two women in the wrong-way vehicle were taken to an area hospital in critical condition with injuries to their bodies, police say. A man in the other vehicle was taken to an area hospital in good condition complaining of chest pain, according to police.

Citations are pending, and DuSable Lake Shore Dr. is shut down both ways between Chicago Avenue and Michigan Avenue for investigating officers. Traffic is being forced off at the Chicago Ave. traffic light going onto the Michigan Ave. ramp.
