NORTHLAKE, Ill. — Murder charges have been filed against two men accused of fatally shooting a Chicago man during an argument in suburban Northlake this week.
According to Northlake police, 28-year-old Silvester Lao and 37-year-old Will Centeno have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
The charges stem from a deadly shooting that allegedly unfolded in the early morning hours on Monday in a neighborhood in the 200 block of South Roy Avenue.
Officers were called to the scene following a report of shots fired in the area and when they arrived, they found the victim who had suffered gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries two days later.
Authorities have since identified the victim as 35-year-old Andrew Kelly, a Chicago resident.
Police said that Lao and Centeno, who were both considered persons of interest at the time, were then taken into custody at the scene for further investigation.
Authorities said a follow-up investigation revealed that after an argument over a relationship had broken out among several individuals at the scene, the two suspect allegedly pulled out guns and shot the victim.
