Loved ones searching for missing Southern California teen

Loved ones are searching for a missing teenager in Southern California.

The critically missing teen was identified as Janet Cardenas, 16, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Cardenas was last seen on Sept. 30 in the 39000 block of Avenir Court in Palmdale at around 7 a.m.

The girl’s family said she has health conditions that require daily medication. They have not heard from her since her disappearance and are concerned for her well-being.

She is described as a Hispanic female standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 185 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. 

She was last seen wearing a gray zip-up hoodie and black cargo pants with bleach stains.

A critically missing person is defined as:

  • A person who has no pattern of running away or disappearing
  • A person in critical need of medical attention
  • The victim of a crime or foul play
  • The victim of a kidnapping or parental abduction
  • A person who is mentally impaired to the extent that such person is unable to care for him or herself or is an immediate danger to his or her own safety or the safety of others

Anyone who may have seen Cardenas or knows her whereabouts is urged to call LASD’s Palmdale Station at 661-272-2400.
