Samantha Paige allegedly struck and killed Franklin Ripley, 72, early Saturday morning, the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office said.

Authorities have identified the victim in a Stockbridge alleged hit-and-run, the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office said.

The DA said Samantha Paige allegedly struck and killed Franklin Ripley with her car early Saturday morning. Ripley was 72 years old, the DA said.

Police responded to a 911 call around 6:44 a.m. Saturday morning reporting an “unresponsive male” by the side of the road, a previous statement from the DA said. When police arrived near the 4.1 mile marker on Route 102, the DA said officers found a body now identified as Ripley.

According to the DA, evidence collected at the scene of the crash suggested a hit and run. Prosecutors charged Paige with leaving a crime scene and causing a personal injury resulting in death, court documents show. Her bail was set at $7,500, but the DA said Paige is being held without bail due to a probation warrant from an unrelated case.

The incident is still under investigation by Stockbridge police, the DA said, and additional charges may come.
