Red Line CTA trains were at a standstill Tuesday after a man was shot in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, officials said.
At 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, CTA officials received a report of a “disturbance” on board a northbound Red Line train departing the Argyle station, the agency said. Power was removed in both directions as a result of the disturbance, CTA said.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, one man was shot in the incident, and was in an ambulance. No condition or further information was provided.
An earlier alert from the CTA said that “major delays” were expected due to police activity near the station.
“At this time, also consider other service alternatives that may serve your trip, such as nearby bus routes, or using buses to other rail lines,” the alert said.
According to CTA officials, shuttle buses were running between Howard and Belmont to provide connecting service.
Chicago Police did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for more details.
