Connections is the hit daily word puzzle brought to you by The New York Times.
Edited by Wyna Liu, the game is such a hit it is second only to Wordle as one of the newspaper’s most played games.
Instructions on how to play the game are below, as are some handy hints to help you solve today’s game.
The answers for Tuesday’s puzzle are toward the end of the article, so scroll with caution if you want to work them out yourself.
How to Play ‘Connections’
Players given 16 words which they must group into four categories based on how they think the words might be associated. For example, a previous Connections puzzle featured the words cater, host, plan and throw joined together in the category “Help put on a party.”
Each of the four categories is labeled with a color, which lets you know their level of difficulty, from yellow which is the easiest category, followed by green, blue and purple. But don’t be fooled, the puzzles are rarely easy and use a range of possible associations from homophones and wordplay, among other techniques.
Sometimes words can overlap and belong to more than one category, so patience is the key when determining your options.
“My best piece of advice is to wait as long as you can before guessing,” Liu told Newsweek in June. “You may see the board and have completely identified the category, seeing five words that could belong in that category.
“Don’t try to guess the four words in that category, because even though you know what the fifth member is, you won’t know which of the four it might not be,” which would ultimately waste a turn.
If stuck, players can hit the shuffle button, which will mix up where the words appear on the screen.
Users have four attempts to correctly guess all of the groups. If you are can’tget all four connections, the answers and their corresponding difficulty color will be revealed at the end.
