The New York Jets are coming off their most frustrating and disappointing losses of the year in Week 4. The Jets dropped their second game of the year, snapping their two-game win streak to the Denver Broncos this past Sunday, 10-9.
The day of the game was wet and ugly, which perfectly suited the type of game played at the Meadowlands.
The Jets didn’t score a single touchdown in the contest, and it was a frustrating game all around, especially for star wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Wilson had arguably his worst game of the year, recording five receptions on eight targets for 41 yards.

Wilson couldn’t help but share that frustration during an appearance on ESPN Radio’s Bart and Hahn. The 24-year-old openly expressed his frustration with the team’s offensive approach, criticizing the team’s lack of willingness to experiment with their play calling.
“I don’t think we do a lot of different stuff, to be honest. I watch football on Sundays and I see a lot of teams mix it up and stuff like that. I don’t think we do that. I think we know our identity. It’s just about going out and executing it or figuring out if it’s going to work. I don’t think we’re trying a lot of different things,” said Wilson.
Wilson also discussed his own route tree, saying it’s not been as expansive as it has in past seasons.
“I know, personally, my route tree hasn’t been what it has been the last two years as far as the stuff I’ve been running,” he said.
Just when everyone thought quarterback Aaron Rodgers would fix all their problems, the offense continues to struggle. The Jets offense has yet to find its groove through four games. Thus far, they are ranked 21st in points per game (19.0), 22nd in yards per game (294.8), 25th in yards per play (4.8), and 15th in touchdowns per game (2.3).
Wilson was supposed to have a breakout season with a healthy Rodgers by his side, but that has not been the case. Wilson has only tallied 20 receptions for 191 yards, one touchdown, and averages 9.6 yards per reception.
He’s failed to surpass 60 receiving yards in any of his first four games in 2024 and has not caught more than six passes in a single game.
It’s been a struggle for the Jets and Wilson. If things continue on a downward spiral, all fingers could be pointed at offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
