Oak Lawn man, 18, dies in shooting near Illinois State University, another 18-year-old injured

A person was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday near Illinois State University in downstate Normal.

The victims are not associated to the university, police said.

Around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, officers were breaking up a “large party” in the 300 block of North Main Street when they heard gunfire, according to the Normal Police Department.

Officers then responded to the 300 block of North University where they found gunshot victims Randall E. Glass, 18 and of Oak Lawn, and another 18-year-old man, police said.

Glass was taken to an area hospital where he died of multiple gunshot wounds, officials said. His death was ruled a homicide.

The other man was also hospitalized in critical condition.
