Evidence from the scene, including parts of a car, shows the victim was on an e-scooter when a car struck him and sped off, the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office said.

An apparent hit-and-run in Stockbridge on Saturday left one person dead, authorities said.

The victim was riding an electric scooter on Route 102 when he was struck by a car, the Berkshire District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

A 911 call Saturday morning reported a person lying down near the 4.1 mile marker on Route 102, the statement said. First responders found an “unresponsive male” by the side of the road, and a paramedic pronounced him dead shortly after, according to the DA.

The statement said evidence collected from the scene shows the victim was riding an electric scooter when a car struck him and fled the scene. Multiple agencies responded, including the State Police Cyber Crimes Unit. State Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
