Chicago police alert Kenwood area residents about machete-wielding suspect slashing car tires

CHICAGO – Chicago police are warning Kenwood area residents about a suspect who has been slashing vehicle tires with a machete.

Police said the incidents happened at the following times and locations:

  • 4700 Block of South Ellis Avenue between the dates of September 25-26, 2024, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
  • 4700 Block of South Ellis Avenue on September 26, 2024 at 7:50 a.m.
  • 4700 Block of South Ellis Avenue on September 28, 2024 5:44 a.m.

In each incident, the suspect reportedly used a machete to slash the tires of vehicles parked on the street before running off in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a male between 5’10” and 6 feet tall. He also has dreadlocks and was wearing all black clothing while committing the crimes, according to investigators.
