40 Years of Progress: 'Race for the Cure' boosts funds for Susan G. Komen Foundation

CHICAGO – Two-thousand runners and walkers know the power of one.

One more step, one more dollar, all for one big fight.

The sky was gray Saturday, but spirits burned bright for “Race for the Cure” at Soldier Field. The 5k raised money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Over the last 40 years, the organization has invested more than $3.5 billion in research and outreach programs in over 60 countries.

More people are surviving thanks to early detection and better treatments.

WGN’s very own Brhett Vickey also served as MC.
