A man is dead and another is in critical condition following an overnight shooting in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Canoga Park.

Initial reports indicate that Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to the 8300 block of Northgate Avenue in connection with a shooting just before 11:40 p.m. Saturday.

Two men were found lying on the street in front of an apartment building with gunshot wounds when they arrived, LAPD confirmed, and video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows first responders performing chest compressions on one of the victims.

The men, both of whom said to be in their early 20s, had been standing outside the apartment complex when an unknown suspect or suspects approached and opened fire, police told KTLA 5’s Erin Myers.

No motive has been established, and no suspect descriptions have been released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD.
