NYT ‘Connections’ September 25: Clues and Answers for Game #472

US

Looking to redeem yourself after missing out on yesterday’s Connections puzzle? You’ve come to the right place, as Newsweek is here to help with hints and tips.

The word game—which is the second-most played game from The New York Times—was launched in June 2023 following the success of Wordle, the newspaper’s most popular brainteaser.

Earlier this year, Connections developer and NYT crossword editor Wyna Liu shared with Newsweek her “best piece of advice” for playing the game.

“Wait as long as you can before guessing,” she said. “You may see the board and have completely identified the category, seeing five words that could belong in that category.”

The answers for Wednesday’s Connections puzzle will be revealed at the bottom of the page, so if you want to avoid spoilers, we suggest scrolling with caution.

How to Play ‘Connections’

If you’ve never played Connections before, don’t sweat it—the rules of play are rather simple. Players are given a 16-word table and must break the words into four groups of four based on common characteristics. For example, Tuesday’s game linked the words “balloon,” “banner,” “confetti” and “garland” under the category “Bit of Party Decoration.”

The four categories are linked to a particular color based on their difficulty, with the easiest being yellow, and green, blue and purple the hardest.

If the words you choose are correct, they’ll appear in the category color and disappear from the board. That being said, if they are incorrect, they will remain on the board in the color gray. Luckily, there’s no time limit for the game; however, players only have four guesses before the answers will be revealed—so choose carefully.

If you’re in need of a refresh, try scrambling the words with the “Shuffle” button.
