AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced to 22 years in prison after he was indicted for a murder that happened in August 2022, according to a judgement from the 390th District Court.
Nathan Ramirez, 18-years-old at the time of the shooting, was arrested one hour after the murder happened and was charged with first-degree murder, according to APD.
KXAN previously reported that Austin Police officers responded to an early morning shooting on Aug. 6, 2022, which happened in 500 block of East Seventh Street. Officers found two men with gunshot wounds when they arrived.
One of the men, Dionysius Edward Thompson, 20, was found unresponsive and died at the scene, according to police.
The judgement states Ramirez is entitled to a credit of 771 days already served. His sentence began on Sept. 18.
