Illinois DMV locations now open earlier to improve service and reduce wait times

US

Most DMV facilities across Illinois began a new schedule this Monday, opening half an hour earlier.

The shift is part of a new initiative to offer better service and reduce wait times.

Most facilities are now open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. instead of 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The shift also applies on Saturdays, when DMVs open from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

The changes are based on data showing that customers are more likely to visit the DMV in the morning than in the evening.

Service hours at locations serving seniors in Addison, Bridgeview, Calumet Park, Evanston, and Westchester will not change.

The Roscoe Express DMV will stay open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and the Orland Township DMV hours will remain 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
