An unknown shooter seriously wounded a man early Monday afternoon about two blocks east of the Magnificent Mile, according to police.

A 26-year old man was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East North Water Street around 1 p.m. when he was shot in the head, police said. Police said they didn’t know who had opened fire.

The man was taken in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. No one was in custody and area detectives were investigating.
