Life-saving measures performed on victim in southeast Austin apartment fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A victim had life-saving measures performed on them after being rescued by the Austin Fire Department in an apartment fire Monday morning in the 10000 block of S I-35 Service Road.

This is located near I-35 Frontage Road and East Brezza Lane. AFD has asked people to avoid the area.

Austin-Travis County EMS said in an update the victim was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. A second victim was tended to at the scene with minor complaints.

AFD said the initial caller reported seeing smoke and fire coming from a first-floor apartment balcony with a possible pet inside.

AFD said the damages of the fire were estimated to be $4,000 for possessions inside the apartment, and $18,000 in damages to the structure. Two people have been displaced as a result of the fire.
