Deputies arrested Jonathan Rodriguez, 20, on Saturday afternoon after he shot at law enforcement during a pursuit in Joshua Tree.

Officers chased the armed suspect when he fled from his car in the 60800 block of Mountain View Trail around 3:30 a.m.

The Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Department said it was during this pursuit that Rodriguez fired several rounds from a firearm. No officers were injured.

After Rodriguez escaped, the department sent out a press release advising residents in the area to keep their doors and windows locked and to remain inside while authorities continued to search for him.

Law enforcement found Rodriguez around 2:22 p.m. inside a home on Pueblo Trail in Joshua Tree. They took him into custody without incident.

“We would like to thank the residents and visitors of Joshua Tree for their patience and assistance in providing information during this investigation,” the department said in a press release update.
