Saturday forecast: Sunny, warm before showers move in

US

CHICAGO — Fall is only a day away, but it can be hard to tell with warm temperatures hanging around Chicagoland.

Friday was the 22nd day at O’Hare International Airport and the 24th day at Midway International Airport where temperatures have been at least 90 degrees or warmer for the year.

While Astronomical Summer may officially come to an end on Saturday, summer sure doesn’t feel like it’s over as highs are expected to come within striking distance of the 94-degree record high set in 2017.

Sunshine is expected for most of the day with some increasing cloud coverage later in the day. The sun is expected to set at 6:50 p.m.

It will be a warm day for concertgoers flocking to Douglass Park for Riot Fest.

A modest onshore lake breeze will help keep temperatures in the low to mid-80s by the lakeshore.

Showers and storms could develop before midnight across parts of Chicagoland.

For the most part, most of the showers will fizzle out before they arrive, but another round is expected to move in on Sunday.

Forecast

TODAY: Sunny Skies this morning with unseasonable warmth expected. Winds SE at 3-8 mph. High 91.

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds as the warmth continues. Scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms possible before midnight. Low 68.

TOMORROW: Highs return to seasonal norms as showers move in. High 77.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK: A slight cool down is on the way after a round of potential showers on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to fall to around the mid-70s for most of the week.
