Viral Video Is Proof Dog Was In Fact ‘Raised’ By Owner’s Maine Coon Cat

US

A dog who was raised by his big feline brother has melted hearts all over social media after their owner shared proof of him behaving exactly like a cat.

The viral post shared on TikTok on Friday, under the username @landoandray, shows the one-year-old beagle, Lindo, acting exactly like his big brother, five-year-old Maine coon Rhaegar, enjoying all the same activities only a cat typically loves.

“When your dog was raised by your cat. Birdwatching, hunting, loafing,” layover text displayed on the clip reads, followed by a caption that says: “He raised him well.”

Although popular belief paints them as mortal enemies, dogs and cats can actually live peacefully with each other, and they can even become best friends.

A 2020 study carried out by Italian scientists, published in the journal PLOS ONE, that questioned over 1,270 pet owners who own both a cat and a dog, suggested that the two can easily cohabit without much conflict.

The study shows that over 64 percent of the cats and dogs living together also played together; 58 percent chased each other; and 41 percent fought. Almost two-thirds of the pets sometimes playfully “ambushed” the other.

Moreover, cats are more likely to ignore dogs than vice versa, with 42 percent of cats ignoring canines, and 28 percent of dogs shunning cats. Cats were also more likely to attack dogs than vice versa.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1.5 million views and 292,600 likes on the platform.
