Celtics guard Derrick White was struck in the head by a fan during an altercation at Saturday’s college football game between Colorado and Colorado State.

TMZ Sports released footage of the scrap on Monday, which shows a fan striking White in the head with the back of his fist — knocking the hat off of White’s head.

According to TMZ, White — a Colorado alum watching Buffaloes take on Colorado State on the road — exchanged words with the fan in the skirmish, but was held back and did not retaliate.

According to TMZ, the fight was a result of White “showing love for his alma mater.” They added that law enforcement arrived to de-escalate the situation, and White left without further incident. TMZ says it was told that no police report was filed after the altercation.

You can watch video of the incident below:

White, who played for Colorado from 2015-17, did get to see Colorado eventually pull away en route to a 28-9 victory at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.

It’s been an eventful summer for White after playing a pivotal role in the Celtics’ 18th championship in June. The 30-year-old guard later signed a four-year, $125.9 million contract extension on July 1 before winning a gold medal for Team USA in August.

White and the Celtics will return to Boston in the coming days as the team gets ready for the start of training camp and the defense of their title during the 2024-25 NBA season.
