4 people injured in Back of the Yards shooting

CHICAGO – Four people, including a child, were shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Monday night.

The shooting happened just before 8:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of West 51st Street near the intersection of Ashland Avenue.

Chicago police said when officers arrived at the scene, they found the victims inside a business. The victims said they were inside when they heard multiple gunshots and then the windows breaking.

According to police, a 48-year-old woman was shot in the left upper arm and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition; a 57-year-old woman was shot in the middle finger of her right hand and taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition; a 13-year-old girl was shot in the lower back and taken to Comers Hospital in fair condition; a 29-year-old man was shot in the back of the neck and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital initially in critical condition but he is now in good condition, according to CPD.

No arrests have been made and Area One Detectives are investigating.
