AUSTIN (KXAN) — The annual Take Care of Texas video contest is underway. Texas students in grades 6 through 12 can participate.

Their mission? The students are asked to create a 30-second video showcasing positive ways Texas can keep our air and water clean, energy and water conservation, recycling, and ways to reduce waste.

KXAN’s Rich Segal spoke with Shannon Casey from Take Care of Texas, about the contest. You can see the full interview in the video above.

Casey spoke about the contest’s rules and explained what elements the video must contain.

Take Care of Texas is part of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. They, along with representatives from Waste Management of Texas, Inc. will help pick the first prize winners. They will be celebrated at the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards Banquet in June.
