A police officer and suspect were rushed to the hospital after a head-on crash during a pursuit in Orange County late Sunday night.

According to preliminary information, the collision occurred near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Kramer Boulevard in Placentia around 11 p.m.

Initial reports indicate that police were pursuing a stolen vehicle out of La Habra.  That vehicle, while fleeing, is believed to have jumped a curb and collided head-on with one of the squad cars giving chase after the driver made their way into Placentia.

Both the officer involved and the driver who was being pursued were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Video from the scene shows the police car with major front-end damage and the airbags deployed. The other vehicle involved in the crash, a black SUV, lost one of its wheels and also sustained serious damage.

Authorities were unable to immediately provide any more details on the collision or the conditions of the officer and suspect.
