Officials say the man was involved in multiple crashes.
A Massachusetts man drove his pickup truck onto Folsom Field at the University of Colorado Boulder Thursday, after crashing multiple times, authorities say.
At 6:45 p.m., Boulder police received a call about several hit-and-run crashes involving the same pickup truck near Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue, the department said in a statement.
The driver, identified as Karl E. Haglund, 48, of Massachusetts, was observed in at least two hit-and-run crashes, the statement said, and seen hitting several trees and signs.
Witnesses attempted to interfere but were unsuccessful in stopping the driver from leaving. He continued driving, hitting another car and more trees, authorities said.
Boulder police tried to stop the driver, but he evaded officers, ramming into a gate to drive onto Folsom Field, the university’s football field.
Haglund is charged with criminal attempt vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, vehicular eluding, three counts of leaving the scene of a crash after damage, failure to obey a traffic control device, driving without insurance, criminal mischief $100,000 to $150,000, obstruction of a peace officer, and trespassing, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
