Man fatally shot in Englewood early Monday

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound in his right eye when responding to a call about gunfire on the South Side early Monday, authorities said.

The man, who was between 18 and 22 years old, was located in the 5600 block of South Throop Street in the Englewood neighborhood around 2 a.m., according to the Chicago Police Department.

Medical personnel provided care to the victim, who was declared dead not long after officers arrived at the scene, police said.

As of around 5 a.m., police didn’t know the circumstances surrounding the shooting and no one was in custody, authorities said. Chicago police detectives are investigating.
