The City of Alhambra kicked off the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month with a Fiesta at the Certified Farmer’s Market on Sunday.

“We are proud to host Fiesta Alhambra as part of our Latino Heritage Month celebrations,” said Mayor Sasha Renée Pérez. “This event is a reflection of our community’s diversity and the strong cultural ties.”

The family event featured live Latin music and dancing, craft vendors, unique handmade goods and an Ofrenda honoring loved ones.

“When we are dancing, we’re dancing with happy hearts,” said a speaker at the event.

“We invite everyone to join us in honoring and celebrating the contributions of our Latino community members,” said Mayor Pérez.

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
