At least 1 NYPD officer shot near Brooklyn L train, police say

At least one police officer was shot on Sunday near a subway station in Brooklyn, a spokesperson for the NYPD said.

The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. near the Sutter Avenue L train station in Brownsville, according to police. An officer was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. City Hall confirmed that Mayor Eric Adams was visiting the facility on Sunday evening.

Police have not yet released details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. A press conference was scheduled for Sunday evening, according to the NYPD.
