Three people died and two others were injured after a brutal crash on the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino, authorities said.

A CHP spokesperson confirmed to KTLA that the collision occurred on the northbound span of the 215 near University Parkway around 11:26 p.m. Saturday.

Responding officers found two bodies in the roadway – one in the right lane and one in the middle lane – and a third individual was found inside one of four vehicles involved in the crash, the spokesperson stated.

They were all pronounced dead at the scene. None of them have been identified.

Two other victims were transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries, CHP said.

Video from the scene shows one of the vehicles involved was damaged beyond recognition. A large pickup truck that suffered major front end damage ended up perpendicular to traffic.

Law enforcement officials could not confirm if speed or impairment were factors in the collision.

The northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway were closed in the immediate aftermath of the crash but have since reopened.
