AUSTIN (KXAN) — When No. 2 Texas and UTSA meet at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday (6 p.m. CDT, ESPN), it’ll be a historic day for the road team.

The Roadrunners haven’t faced a team ranked as highly as the Longhorns in the 14-year history of the program. The highest-ranked team UTSA has ever faced was No. 13 Oklahoma State in 2013.
Coming off a 49-10 loss to upstart Texas State last week, Roadrunners coach Jeff Traylor said his team typically responds well the following week after a big loss.

There’s a big exception about this week, however.
“We’ve had four losses where we’ve got the crud kicked out of us, and we came back and won all four of those games the next week,” Roadrunners coach Jeff Traylor said. “But we’ve never had the University of Texas the very next week.”
All week, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has preached preparation with his team. He said it doesn’t matter who the other team is, Michigan or UTSA or otherwise, they need to prepare with the same efficiency and intensity every week. It’s easy to let down your guard after toppling the defending national champion one week and then playing a team from the American Athletic Conference the next, so Sarkisian said the coaching staff is doing everything it can to keep the team focused.
