Southern California high school coach arrested; accused of having sex with 14-year-old

A former Southern California high school coach was arrested for allegedly having sex with a young girl.

The suspect was identified as Jonathan Xavier Cabral, 24, of Fullerton, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Cabral formerly worked as a walk-on assistant track coach at Foothill High School in North Tustin.

On July 27, detectives were notified of Cabral allegedly having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl. Police said they were already investigating him at the time.

Investigators said Cabral reportedly met the girl online and later met up with her in real life for “sex and other lewd and lascivious acts.”

The incidents allegedly happened in Laguna Beach, authorities said.

On Aug. 14, Cabral was arrested on multiple charges including statutory rape, meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, possession of child pornography, and numerous other charges related to the incident.

He was released on $100,000 bail.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.
