APD investigating deadly crash in southeast Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened in southeast Austin Friday, the agency said on social media.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Ben White Boulevard eastbound. Police said they shut down traffic on all eastbound lanes of Ben White Boulevard, including surrounding ramps.

Austin-Travis County EMS said it pronounced one person dead on the scene, the agency said on social media.

The Texas Department of Transportation said on social media all eastbound and westbound lanes were shut down on State Highway 71 from Burleson Road to Interstate 35.

It was not immediately clear what led to the crash. No other details were provided Friday.
