Xcel Energy outage leaves thousands in Aurora without power Friday morning

US

More than 5,000 people in Aurora were without power Friday morning, according to Xcel Energy.

Around 5:12 a.m. Friday, 5,469 homes in Aurora lost power, according to Xcel’s outage map.

The energy outlet didn’t say what caused the outage but said crews would restore power to the city by 6:45 a.m.

By 6:15 a.m., power had been restored to nearly 4,000 homes, leaving just over 1,600 Coloradans in Aurora without power, according to Xcel’s outage map.

However, the remaining homes affected by Friday’s power outage won’t see electricity until 8:15 a.m. or 9:15 a.m., Xcel officials said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
