Dalmatian Spots Musician Performing in Public, Can’t Help but Sing Along

US

A video of a Dalmatian interacting with a street musician has been praised as something straight out of a Disney movie.

TikTok user @cas.dav was strolling the streets of New York City recently when they came across a magical sight: a dog, dueting with a street performer.

In a clip shared to their account on August 22, which has racked up a whopping 137,000 likes and over 640,000 views, the user strolls under a tunnel in sunny Central Park.

They approach a musician playing a saxophone, while beside him is a woman and her Dalmatian dog.

And the dog steals the show, as it howls along expertly to the music while appearing to keep eye contact with the man performing the entire time.

The pair duet for a while, the dog’s tail wagging as it keeps up with the saxophone player, and the dog’s owner records the unusual interaction, as do multiple passersby who stop to listen.

TikTok user @cas.dav shared the unusual clip to their account with the ‘punderful’ caption: “Saw Fur-ank Sinatra this morning.”

And it proved hugely popular, with one impressed commenter writing it was “very 101 Dalmatians coded.”

“They used to perform at a jazz club together in a past life,” another joked, as one asked: “When is their world tour?”

One commenter even admitted the video made them “emotional,” adding: “Music is beautiful.”

Dogs can howl for many different reasons, from communicating with other dogs to expressing pain or illness.

In the case of the Dalmatian, the saxophone likely acted as a “trigger sound”— a high-pitched sound that can cause a dog to react by howling, according to the American Kennel Club.

Known trigger sounds include the likes of emergency vehicle sirens or even certain notes being played on a musical instrument.

The Dalmatian stopped to listen to the musician at Central Park in New York City. As the dog joined in, passers-by stopped to listen tot hem both.

But not all dogs need an instrument to begin howling: one Labrador retriever recently went viral for his humming reaction to the church bells echoing in his backyard, with his owner finally getting it on camera after years of trying.

Another dog captured hearts across the internet when he howled along with his owner singing the haunting theme from the 1998 movie Titanic, to the point they were approached to appear on the next edition of America’s Got Talent.
