CHICAGO — Chicago’s own Chance the Rapper greeted fans in Wrigleyville on Thursday for a good cause.
Dozens of people waited outside Raising Cane’s restaurant for a chance to meet the three-time Grammy-award-winning musician and humanitarian. The restaurant teamed up with the rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, to donate $100,000 to his youth empowerment charity, SocialWorks.
Chance said Chicagoans’ support for him and his charity continues to be a blessing.
“I’m so blessed by this donation from Raising Cane’s for my charity SocialWorks,” he said. “I’m always proud to collaborate with brands that put emphasis on giving back to charities and working with nonprofits.”
Chance later served fresh chicken at a food truck for Clark Magnet High School students.
“I love a Box Combo with extra toast!” the 31-year-old said.
Founded by Chance the Rapper in 2016, SocialWorks helps thousands of youths each year by focusing on education, mental health, homelessness, and performing and literary arts.
