Boston is experiencing its longest streak of no measurable rain in decades, according to one local meteorologist.

WBZ meteorologist Terry Eliasen noted on X on Tuesday that the city had seen 21 days in a row with no significant rainfall since Aug. 21, the longest such stretch since 1999 when Boston saw 37 consecutive dry days.

More dry days are likely still ahead.

According to the National Weather Service, there are “essentially no rain chances” in the forecast for southern New England over the next seven days.

Eliasen is forecasting that the Northeast will remain without precipitation for at least the next 10 days.

Despite the lack of rainfall, as of Wednesday, only one area in Massachusetts, n the northeast area of the state, is considered to be experiencing a mild drought. Eliasen said on X that he expects the lack of rain in recent weeks could be reflected in the next drought monitor report, due out Thursday.

“We are still well above average for the year but 3 weeks without rain is surely having an impact,” he said.
