Nikke Bella files for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev after DV arrest

US

The divorce rumors swirling around “Dancing With the Stars” pro Artem Chigvintsev and his wife, Nikki Bella, have officially panned out following his arrest for domestic violence nearly two weeks ago.

The former WWE star filed for divorce from Chigvintsev on Wednesday, after two years of marriage, according to TMZ.

Bella had reportedly been searching for a divorce lawyer since her husband’s arrest on Aug. 29, and according to TMZ she has found one in attorney Evan Craig Itzkowitz.

Chigvintsev was charged with corporal injury to a spouse and booked at Napa County Jail after he called paramedics to his home, then canceled the request. Authorities arrived anyway to find Bella with visible injuries, prompting his arrest.

The extent of her injuries or what led up to the incident is still unclear.

Chigvintsev was released from jail later that day on $25,000 bail.

More abuse allegations surfaced in the days that followed — from former dance partners and others who had worked with him — as did reports that his marriage with Bella had always been “volatile.”

Two days after the arrest, Bella was seen out and about without her wedding ring, further fueling speculation their relationship was heading toward an end.

Charges against the dance pro have since been referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office, which is reviewing the case and will decide what, if any, formal charges to file.

The “Strictly Come Dancing” alum, who was not slated to be in the current season of “DWTS,” is scheduled for arraignment Nov. 4.

The couple had just celebrated their second wedding anniversary days before the incident that seemingly triggered the end of their marriage.

Together, they share 4-year-old son Matteo.
