NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Police in Nashville, Tennessee, are crediting rock artist Jon Bon Jovi with helping to persuade a woman to “come off the ledge” of a bridge on Tuesday.

The Metro Nashville Police Department released video of the encounter on Wednesday, which happened on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River. You can see the video in the player above.

In the surveillance video, a woman can be seen standing on the outside of the guardrail as people walk by in both directions.

Bon Jovi and an acquaintance from his film crew are then seen approaching her. They speak with her for about a minute, seemingly comforting her.

The pair are then able to grab the woman and pull her back over the bridge railing.

After making it over the railing, the woman is seen speaking with the music legend as he pulls her into an embrace. The video ends with Bon Jovi and his film crew walking the woman toward the end of the bridge.

“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” Metro Police Chief John Drake said.

Authorities told Nexstar’s WKRN the woman was trying to jump from the bridge. Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No other information was released.

WKRN has also reached out to Bon Jovi’s team for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
