Chester Bennington’s son says he fears for his safety after slamming band Linkin Park for “quietly erasing my father’s life and legacy” by bringing in a new vocalist after his dad’s death by suicide in 2017.
Jaime Bennington, 28, said he’s been on the receiving end of “some really awful s–t” amid grievances he aired on Instagram after the band revealed last week that Dead Sara co-founder Emily Armstrong would take over as co-vocalist.
“To be honest, I don’t feel safe going to the show under general admission,” Bennington said of his plans to attend Linkin Park’s sold-out Wednesday show in Los Angeles.
He then shared a screengrab of a message in which a Linkin Park fan vowed to “find u at the concert.”
Bennington requested that people “not harass me or my partner,” saying they’re attending the performance “for closure.”
“If anything happens to me or my partner while we are attending this concert, it is on @linkinpark,” he added.
Bennington also called out those who are “telling me to kill myself, you’re telling me that I’m awful, you’re telling me that my father doesn’t appreciate me.”
“You didn’t give a f–k when he died,” he said. “If you did, you would understand what the problem is. You would understand why this is all wrong. I do, because I’m his kid.”
