It’s a Tuesday of transport troubles.
As the United Nations General Assembly snares up traffic in much of Midtown Manhattan, commuters Tuesday are also dealing with some subway and tunnel issues.
The New York-bound side of the Lincoln Tunnel is partially blocked due to a morning crash in the center tube, according to the Port Authority. As of 7:15 a.m., the center tube remained completely blocked, and traffic in the south tube was experiencing up to 90 minute delays.
Commuters trying to stay out of gridlock on Manhattan’s East Side by taking public transportation are in for some bad luck: 4, 5 and 6 trains are experiencing heavy delays.
Police said the 4 and 5 trains were suspended early Tuesday because of a search for an emotionally disturbed person on the tracks around 138th Street-Grand Concourse.
The MTA says the lines have resumed their usual stops, but are not running on time.
The week was already expected to be a traffic nightmare, as representatives from 193 nations travel to the UN General Assembly.
The 9/11 ceremony on Wednesday will also create some traffic and delays around Lower Manhattan, especially with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris scheduled to attend.
And a few streets in Chelsea near 11th Avenue will remain closed until New York Fashion Week concludes Wednesday.
