Monday Night Football: San Francisco 49ers fans celebrate season opener victory

US

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) — The party, led by little girl named Paige, is on after the 49ers opened up their season with a victory at Levi’s Stadium.

“It’s been a long, good day,” said Paige Angeles.

And she should know. She got here at 1 p.m. with her family.

“What happened during the game and what did you like?” ABC 7 News reporter J.R. Stone asked.

“The tailgating!” said Paige who continued, “I would give it a three thumbs up!”

SFPD Sergeant Joelle Harrell and Dr. Luck Kornblith were honored at the San Francisco 49ers game for helping Ricky Pearsall after he was shot.

It seems that after this victory there is one basic thing on the minds of many, outside of the need to dance immediately.

“It’s super bowl or bust!” yelled one woman.

“I think so too,” said another.

But one 10-year-old boy says if this team is going to get back to the Super Bowl they better shape up.

“I think they can make adjustments,” said Santiago Garcia.

“What kind of adjustments should they make?” asked Stone.

“Brock Purdy should train more,” said Santiago who continued, “Also Aiyuk – because he was on open touchdown and he didn’t make it.”

It seems that the kids were a little tougher on the winning 49ers team compared to the tailgate crowd we talked with Monday afternoon.

“Is there anything that worries you about the Niners this season?” we asked.

“Nope I have faith!” said a woman in the midst of eating at the tailgate.

With Monday Night Football just around the corner, Levi’s Stadium is gearing up with a new game day menu.

“Honestly nothing, I feel good about this season,” said another fan.

But maybe the day crowd was a bit distracted by the food and drinks. I mean, it did look really really tasty.

“Little chicken, chicken tacos and a whole lot of beer,” said Adrian Hernandez.

“Now what time does the drinking start on a day like this?” we asked.

“When I wake up,” said Adrian who told us he awoke at 6 a.m.

No complaints though, with a Niners victory to end the night.
