An internal investigation is underway after a shot was mistakenly fired by a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department who was handling another officer’s pistol.

It happened last Friday around 9:15 a.m., LAPD officials announced Monday.

Both officers are assigned to the LAPD Southeast Division and were on-duty when the service weapon fired and embedded into a tile floor.

No one was injured during the incident, which is being investigated by the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division as a “Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge.”

No further details were made available by police Monday.
