AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Southeastern Conference enjoyed Texas’ 31-12 win over Michigan so much that it named two Longhorns as players of the week.

Quinn Ewers was named the SEC offensive player of the week and Jake Majors shared the lineman of the week honor with Tennessee’s Cooper Mays, the conference announced Monday.

Ewers tossed three touchdowns in the road win over the Wolverines, who had won their previous 23 games at The Big House. He finished 24 of 36 passing with 246 yards, and most importantly, he didn’t throw an interception.

It’s Ewers’ eighth win in true road games since 2022 and it was the program’s largest margin of victory over a top-10 team on the road since 1979.

Ewers earned non-SEC distinctions for his play against Michigan, as well. He was named a Davey O’Brien Great 8 honoree for Week 2 and a Manning Award Star of the Week

Majors helped keep Ewers clean by not allowing any sacks and the Longhorns rushed for 143 yards. With their two top defensive linemen from last season, Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, the Wolverines allowed just 90 yards per game last season, ranking No. 5 in FBS.

Majors is the second Longhorn to be named an SEC lineman of the week. Cam Williams earned the award after his Week 1 performance against Colorado State.

Texas moved up one spot to No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll while Michigan dropped seven spots to No. 17.
